well i got stuck at a light on my way home from target today. for nearly 30 minutes. why? funeral procession. it must have been for a border patrol officer because (once i started counting) more than 150 border patrol/CHP/Sheriff cars marked and unmarked filed past. and as horrible as it sounds, all i could think about was "man, that's a LOT of gas" because nearly all of them were of the SUV variety.
meanwhile, as i waited, NPR was playing Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, which i usually catch via a weekly podcast (NERD alert, i know). And who but
Neil Partick Harris was a special guest! heh. NPH is apparently a fellow Wait Wait nerd and he is quite adorable, really. he even talked about harold and kumar which always brings a smile to my face. i didn't know NPH got it because fred savage passed on it. which i can't help but think is just a joke, i MISTAKENLY put
this movie in my netflix queue instead of the intended The Wizard and let me tell you, SHIT. totally. so i now that i think of it, why would he have passed on harold and kumar but not on that POS last run movie (so bad, seriously don't bother)? true or not, NPH is a funny man.
****
speaking of netflix.
Dan In Real Life is quite possibly my favorite movie i've seen so far this year. an odd chioce i know, but i thought steve carell was excellent. i felt his loneliness. and he was totally believable and heartbreaking and funny and awkward and genuine and likeable. and sondre lerche for nearly the whole soundtrack? inspired! and yeah, there were characters i could've done without (talking to you dane cook - though he wasn't horrible, i don't think he fit in that part) but as a whole i loved this movie. the song dan and mitch sing in the family talent show alone was worth the watch. i realized later that this movie was everything i was hoping Jersey Girl with ben affleck had been. i wanted that movie to be great. i liked nearly everyone in it. but it didn't really work for me. Dan in Real Life however, so great! i know not everyone will agree, but for me, i just can't say how much i enjoyed it.
Wristcutters: A Love Story. I had never heard of it but i thought, Patrick Fugit, why not? and i really really liked it. really. quirky. and i want the soundtrack. anyone have it? cause i want that one song, if you've seen the movie, you'll know which one! ;) (i wanted a different ending, though the movie was still good!)
