A wandering Sage found himself in the King's court where preparations were underway for a feast. The throne room was being decorated by the Prime Minister and a few of his loyal staff. The Sage wandered in, chuckling to himself as he saw "much ado about nothing". Then he plopped himself down on the King's throne!
At this point, the Prime Minister, who had been doing his best to ignore the man, who was obviously wacky in the PM's view, was incensed!
Approaching the man, the PM yelled, "Who do you think you are to be sitting on that throne? Do you think you are some high official?" "No", the Sage responded. "I am much higher than a minister."
"Higher than any minister is the Prime Minister. I am the Prime Minister! Do you think YOU are the Prime Minister?" "Of course not. You have just said YOU are the Prime Minister. But, dear sir, I am MUCH higher than a Prime Minister."
Higher that the Prime Minister!?" The PM blurted out, now apoplectic and red-faced. "Only the King is higher than the Prime Minister! Do you believe YOU are the KING!?" "Oh no, my dear fellow. I am MUCH higher than the King".
"Higher than the King? Only God is higher than the King, you lout! Do you believe that you are God??" "Absolutely NOT my dear Prime Minister! I am much higher than God".
Higher than GOD? But there is NOTHING higher than God."
Smiling with Love, the Sage said softly, "Quiet right dear boy. I AM that Nothing."
