In case you were curious... LJ's axed basic accounts, effective yesterday.

I'm not stating that this is somehow morally reprehensible, but communication would be nice.

You get what you pay for, I suppose... waitaminute... some paid users might want basic accounts?

I don't recommend reading the comments after Mr. Shellen's post.
