A few memorable things have happened in the last week so i thought' i'd regale you all with a few stories.

Last saturday was Jon's birthday party, as Nick mentioned in his journal. Jon threw a fit because nick couldn't find decent techno music (they taped off a 2 and a half by two and a half square on the floor that became the designated Dance Floor). Now, it wasn't so much that Nick couldn't find dance music as it was that Jon suddenly decided he was Williams and Mary's leading connoisseur of techno. As it so happened, the party didn't involve much techno at all. While some people stayed int he room and talekd, a group of us went into the common room on that floor and had a rocking game of Apples to Apples. For those of you who've never played apples to apples, the following is a brief description of how it works. Everyone else: skip to next paragraph.

You have two sets of cards: Red and Green. Everyone gets 7 Red cards. each of theswe has a noun on it. they're usually random nouns like "Unicorn" "Mashed Potatos" and "Truck Stops". The green cards are adjectives ("hot" "keen" "romantic" to name a few). Every round a judge is selected who puts a green card on the table and all the players then pick a red card form thier hand that they think best suits that adjective. By no means does it have to make sense. Once all the cards are on the table, each eprson makes their argument as to why their card is the best (For instance, Why "Shindler's List" matches the adjective "Unbelievable" or perhaps why "Anne Frank" matches "voluptuous"). Occasionally you'll get a noun that is labeled "My *insert noun here*", which refers to the judge. that's it.

So we're playing Apples to Apples and we really came up with some good ones. Two of the many funny moments really stick out in my memory. One round Jimmy was judging and the adjective was "romantic". On the table we have "Taxis" "candles" "boyfriends" and "Truck Stops". The last one was mine. Everyone is making their arguments to Jimmy while i quietly sat to one side. When the commotion had died down, I looked at Jimmy and said in a calm voice "I can think of nothing more romantic than a candlelit dinner in a truck stop". I was awarded the green card that round. Another time I was judging and the adjective was "hot". I'm reading through the cards: "Ok, 'ovens'...yeah i guess those are hot....'fire'...yes that's hot too...'My Dreams'--no, that'd be more like 'wet'." the tablebursts into laughter and, even though i was judging that round, i was awarded the green card.

Sunday I went home for the day. Katie and I went to breakfast and had a great time hanging out for the day. That night Katie and I went to see this show at Lauren's church that was really funny. It was supposed to be like an episode of SNL and i have to say they did a really good job making ti seem like one, complete with Deep Thoughts ("If a child asks me 'where does rain come from?' I think it's cute to answer that 'God is crying'. If a child asks me why god is crying, I think it's cute to answer with 'Probably because of something you did'") and a Harry Carry appearance with a Harry Potter twist. I got called on stage randomly for a game of dodgball at one point. This resulted in two things: first: I now acknowledge that i suck at dodgball. Secondly: I got pegged in the face with a dodgball by an 11 year old.

Monday was pretty uneventful. I got my first paper back form my Chinese Martial Arts teacher. We had watched a really, _really_ bad movie the week before and had had to write a paper about it. I got a 6.5 out of 10 on the paper. Great way to start my college career.

Tuesday was good, though, despite the nonstop rain. In my Greek Civ class i recognized a guy from a camp that i went to a couple years ago. I employed a slew of stalker-esque methods (looked up his record from the camp that we went to and then matched his name in the william and mary People Search) to find out if it really was the same guy. Later, when i was setting up my ps2, i found a dvd that i had rented from Blockbuster about two weeks ago....yeah...i think i'm going to mail that one home as soon as i can.

I haven't seen Garden State yet but the sound track is really good. I recommend it to anyone and everyone. It's got an acoustic version of Such Great Heights that sounds pretty sweet.

One last thing before i head off to class: Walking into a wall of foam feels like pure awesome.
