I took that math placement test yesterday at ODU. I'm not sure how i did...after i made my way to the testing room, (a large-ish room with about 5 or 6 computers on each side. There were heaps of scrap paper next to each monitor. and some dinky basic function calculators next to those) the lady who was running the test told me what i needed to know. The test would take me about 40 minutes (i ran just over 45), it was, in fact, computerized, and that as i answer questions correctly, the difficulty would go up. Naturally the converse was true as well. She said if i reached the highest set of questions, i could be placed in calc. if i screwed up, i could be placed in Remedial Algebra. Yeah, no pressure there.
So i start this test. and it was fairly easy. I got to the higher level questions pretty fast. Actually, a got a lot of Trig questions i hadn't learned about yet and could only make stabs at. See, there were no approximations when they asked for a height or whatever. Consequently, the answers were all in Radian mode instead of degrees. and Kerbin only BREIFLY mentioned that the other day when he unveiled the sine and cosine curves to me. so when i had to choose between things like:
A) 7 sin pi/2
B) 7 cos pi/2
C) (sin pi/2)/7
D) Your mother
You can understand my befuddlement. At any rate, i find out my results after school today. It'll suck big time if i don't get this. I worked pretty hard just to get where i am.

As i sit here, looking over my computer screen, my eyes explore my room again for the first time. They flit from poster to poster, absorbing the information on each. Zelda. Mario. Yoda. The Simpsons. Gundam Models. A Rabbit-with-Big-Sharp-Pointy-Teeth. And to top it off, bright green walls all around me. And i think to myself, "THIS is the room of an aspiring thinker?!"

It's Wednesday. Don't commit suicide.
