picture of death note

so i totally just realized that i haven't done a picture of the day in quite some time. and being that i just spent over an hour looking up death note fanart on deviantart and effectively spoiling myself a considerable degree, i figured this was warranted.

its by an artist that calls herself shecow on deviantart. yes it seems in this very serious and dark anime every fanartist seems to have the express urge of making the two rivalling characters looking as cute as possible (particularly l, because he's already hella cute). either that or make them fuck eachother, which i can't really complain about even though it makes no sense. my only problem with this pic? HIS NAME IS NOT FUCKING RAITO!!!!! for the love of god people, its engrish. his name is light, its just that japanese people can't pronounce it, so they butcher perfectly good names. its not arisu, its alice; its not arucard, its alucard. so step off. jesus christ, if you speak english pronounce the names the way their supposed to be pronounced, not in some fucked up way just because the japanese alphabet does not mesh at all with western languages. *fumes* ok i'm done.

anyway. yes death note is quite awesome, and i'm very eager to get more into it so i think i'm gonna start reading the manga, because i believe the anime is only on episode 7 and its coming out weekly, and i don't know if i can handle that. we've been watching a lot of anime - red garden is gantz (a bunch of people are killed and then brought back to life in order to kill things, because clearly dead people have nothing to lose) except better, and has random musical numbers at the end of the first two episodes o.O. but the animation is really different and really awesome, the characters actually look different. and they have noses! its actually a little weird at first, because they're noses can seem monstrous, but once you get used to it you can really appreciate everything else, like how they have different body types and facial shapes. what else is good? christina has been watching jigoku shoujo (roughly translated i believe to hellgirl), i've been watching it on and off, so i suppose by principle i can't give my full opinion, but its a very interesting show though it starts off slow. its a more detached death note, about revenge rather than a new world order, you have to watch it to really get it, i highly recommend it. and then there's paradise kiss, which is fantastic and also really awesomely and differently animated that gives the characters much more individualism. and it has an amazing and highly addictive opening theme. its a series about the fashion world, and has a lot more american principles which makes it really interesting, unfortunately if it were translated and presented to american audience they wouldn't really understand the significance of that, like when one character actually encourages another to talk about themselves, god forbid.
anyway christina is planning on starting an anime journal so she'll reviewing these things in a much more organized manner, as well as other stuff, so you'll should check it out if you're interested. i'll link you when she starts it up.
