Homecoming '06.

Yesterday was simply MAD.
I awoke from some crazy dream with an odd feeling of excitement.
Partly because I was about to go shopping, but mainly because YAY HOMECOMING.
I'm not usually so "gung ho" about school dances. I mean, I'm not against them. They're tradition. It's somewhat comforting. Like the sky...it's always there.
But this dance in particular I was very much looking forward to. And why not? Amazing friends, amazing dress, amazing Christopher.
YAY.

After hydrating with some much needed Jamba Juice, I hit PV mall around noon.
Picked up $162 worth of lovely new clothes from Anchor Blue, also much needed.
Snatched some last-minute earrings from Claire's, where I was slightly disturbed by the multitude of brutally annoying middle-schoolers gallivanting about the store. I weep for the future.
Then bumped into Christopher and his cousin. It just reminded me how much I enjoy simple, random, sparatic occurances like that.
He was there to get his hair cut for the dance. I'll admit, I was a bit nervous about it. I liked his hair. It was play-with-able.
But, it looks quite nice. Indeed it does.
I also ran into the mother of my best friend in elementary school. And she recognized me. It was exciting.
I realized that I hadn't seen her son in such a long time.
Scott. He was short, adorable, and the best first-best-friend a girl could ask for. (He was also my first kiss)
Things like that really make you reflect.

So, the early afternoon was good.
But good early afternoon quickly became bad late afternoon.
Practically everything that could go wrong did.
I had to go to three different stores to find the right hosery, and apparently no one but Hello Kitty™ stocks glitter.
WTF?
I was supposed to be at Linny's house around four to start getting ready. Time began to creep up on me, so naturally I began to rush.
Future reference to anyone who cares to make note of it: attempting to rapidly put on hosery in a moving vehicle is a very BAD idea.
Yes, they ripped. (And Julie -- yes, my hosery was bunching)
So already-in-a-bad-mood me and my quickly-growing-frustrated mother drove back to Target (pronounced Tarzchay) to get more hosery.
I arrived at Linny's extremely blah and basically hyperventilating because I'm an anal freak with OCD and things were definitely not going percisely to my plan.
But, my friends are amazing. Linny and Kayleigh helped me calm down and made me smile. Linny did my hair because I was way too wound-up to control a hot curling iron. It looked fabulous, I must say.
I took a few hundred deep breaths and finally relaxed.
We met the boys (my Christopher and Kayleigh's date Kal) at Chili's for dinner, which consisted of appetizers because I like my men cheap.
After "dinner", we did some pre-dancing at Christopher's house to "Sexyback" and took pictures.
My happy "YAY HOMECOMING" mood had returned.

Moon Valley Country Club was swarming with glittery dresses and fancy ties. Literally, swarming.
There were so many bodies in that place, it was like a freaking sauna.
We got some group photos taken, sadly minus my Timothy and his Kimmy because of bad reception, and Christopher and I got individual ones. The lady who took ours put us in a very awkward position. I searched my brain for a polite way to say "Hey lady, my feet don't bend that way!" but I came up with nothing, so I remained silent. I'm hoping they turned out marvelously.
The dance was a dance, as you can imagine, so I'll spare the details.
Basically, it was amazing because of who I was with.
By the end of the night, despite the blend of glitter and sweat blinding my eyes, my heart could see clearly.
This could be is love.
