So when I was cleaning my room today and I came across this folder of ancient drawings. These aren't like "I was five when I drew these" drawings, but they are old. I think from around 2000-2001, like when I first started creating characters and plot for Skin Deep.
So first I was going to just show some of the drawings I found (because they're horrid and funny), but then I decided to do a compare kinda thing. A lot of my characters have changed a lot in 6 years, and not just because I'm better at drawing now.
Colin is my oldest character ever. I created him in (i think) the 5th grade, and I even made a little "First drawing of" border around him. I obviously knew I was going to draw this stupid little guy constantly. He's been named several things over the years, though. His first name was "Calvin". You know, as in Calvin and Hobbes. I gave him ears recently to fit with my maned gryphon species things.
This isn't the first drawing of Michelle I did, but it was the earliest I could find. She used to have Chi-Chi hair (you know, like from Dragon Ball Z, ugh) and her name was Mezi. A Japanese grecian sphinx? What the hell, man? I also think it's funny that I did similar poses in these. Way to not be original anymore, Kory.
Merial has gone through the most, I think. She started off as a bio-engineer who turned herself into a catfish mermaid and was wheelchair bound. I got that idea from some story I read off the internet like in 1999 or something like that. Somewhere along the line she turned blue and became a type of nixie thing.
I actually created Jim just to be friends with Merial and Michelle. I had a reason at the time but I totally can't remember it. He got green hair because I was sitting on the couch and I yelled "What's a good hair color?" and someone yelled "Green."
Oh Greg, aren't you just the cutest little angsty satyr ever? He really hasn't change that much over the years, has he?
And now a crapload of really old drawings
These are in no particular order. They range from 2000-2001 I think.
Richard and George in one of their first incarnations of how I drew them.
Another early George. He's like...fighting, or something.
Michelle (er, Mezi here I guess) and Merial watching...something. I'm so glad I stopped drawing eyes like that.
This is like the 3rd version of Leah. She's nearly as old as Colin is and has gone through a lot. This was before I decided turn her into a Yoko Ono fangirl. This is also where she lost her wings for awhile. ISN'T THAT EXCITING?
OH AREN'T I FUNNY? I only like this because I mention Pirate of Dark Water. I would love to see that damn show again. MONKEY PARROT.
I'mmmmm, not entirely sure what this is about. The anatomy is a little better in this drawing than the other ones, so I can only assume I had been working on improving or something. I also apparently like drawing Jim without a shirt. It goes way back.
Awww, the Finn Family. Back when Paul was taller than everybody and everybody had super-long skinny feet. Man I was so good at drawing back then.
Annddddd, here's my old avatar Booker. I could never decide on a form, so at one point I made Booker have three different forms. Bat, hippocampus, and kangaroo. I'm glad I ditched her, 'cause I hate her now. XD
