Jim Preens

So I feel like I've been drawing a lot lately but in actually I haven't really. All I have today is a sketch of Jim preening that I drew during Psychology class. So I'm filling the rest of the entry with a character meme I found on my LJ friends page. Enjoy!

Jim preens his feathers. Pretty straight forward here. He looks kind of bored. That's probably because I was kind of bored while I drew this.

And now a meme.

1) What's your character's name? Jimothy James Finn
2) How old is he/she? If we go by birthdates he's 21. At the beginning of Skin Deep he's 19.
3) Is your OC a boy or girl? A fairly swishy hunk of manmeat.
4) What's his/her race? Maned gryphon.

Appearance:
1) If this character were to suddenly become part of the 3D world, and ended up in a heavily-populated area, how many stares would he/she get? Probably a few, what with the green hair and the 7 feet of tallness. Also if he weren't using his human disguise I think a 14 foot long shaggy green-maned gryphon would attract a lot of attention.
2) Is your character considered normal in his/her own world? He considers himself normal, but the whole point of Skin Deep is that the definition of "normal" depends on the user.
3) What would be his/her most recognizable feature(s)? A toss up between the hair and the height. They're both pretty noticible from a distance.
4) Would you consider your OC as attractive? Sure. I mean I think he's adorable, but mostly because I like his personality.

Personality:
1) Temper: Very laid back. He has his own ideas and doesn't mind if others don't agree with him. Very extroverted.
2) Does your character ever get depressed? Once in a blue moon. Before his 16th birthday he was Mr. McEmoface. He figures he got most of his moping done then, and there's not much use for it.
3) Leader or Follower? Jim would rather be a follower, but if nobody volunteers he'll lead, usually fairly well.
4)What is the main aspect of his/her personality? Jim is all about acceptance and understanding. He gives peace a chance with love and care. Some people find him insanely pretentious and holier-than-thou.

History:
1) Does your OC have a family of any sort? He has an insanely large family that traces back to the Middle Ages. He's extremely proud of his heritage. As far as immediate family, he's the second oldest of four brothers. He's one of those fancy-assed Englishmen who live in a house with a name. It's called Fingol.
2) Is your character out on his/her own? His parents are footing the bill for his Great American College Adventure, but I'm sure he could survive without their financial support.
3) Has he/she encountered any traumatizing events? He's the first Finn to manefest physical signs of the Finn Curse in several generations. He's always had the green mane, but on his 16th birthday he grew several feet in both body length and mane length overnight.
4) What was probably the best time in his/her life so far? His Missouri College days have been quite a highlight, what with him discovering the Last Sphinx and all. Well, that's been the most exciting period of his life at least.

Romance:
1) Single? He's got a bit of a crush on a nixie named Merial.
2) Has your OC developed any romantic relationships? He's had two serious relationships. Elise Rigby when he was 15 and Lorne Lyon when he was 18. He had smatterings of significant others inbetween, but none to really write home about.
3) Virgin? He kinda lost that at a young age.
4) Does your character like flirting? Oh good lord he flirts like it's he's Majoring in it.

Symbolism:
1) What animal would you associate your OC with? Well Jim is a freaking gryphon. But symbolically? Well, the gryphon symbolizes the eagle, the master of the air, and the lion, the king of the beasts. I think his species accurately represents his personality.
2) Musical Instrument? Well he plays both the saxophone and the bass guitar. I've always associated both instruments as being "too cool for school".
3) Element? God it's like I've infused this boy with so much blatant symbolism it hurts. Thanks to his "curse" he has a limited control over plants.
4) Planet? Earth. Blue and green, inviting, and thriving with life and vitality.

Showing the Love:
1) Do you draw your character? That's a big yes.
2) Do you write about him/her? Sure do. he's one of the main four characters.
3) Do you use him/her in any rpgs? I'm not very active in RPs anymore. Only a smattering, and usually I make up new characters.
4) What other ways have you appreciated your OC? Well I've been working on Skin Deep for about 6 years now, so I have about 6 years worth of writing, character development, and drawing to show for the boy.

RANDOMIZE!
1) Is your character wanted for anything? He's not really the type to get arrested. Unless it was for some cause he was way into.
2) What are three weaknesses in him/her? He falls in and out of love easily, sometimes he's too trusting, and he's sometimes insanely lazy.
3) Strengths? He's good at interpersonal relationships, has a flair for music, and likes botany. Physically he's as strong as you would thing a 14 foot long giant lion/eagle monster would be. He can also fly.
4) Does your OC drink or smoke (etc.)? He likes the sauce, yeah. He is not at all pleased with the legal drinking age in America.
5) What's one quirk about him/her? He sometimes has difficulty controlling his gryphon instincts. This leads to things like basking in the sunbeams, eating small animals, and a severe weakness towards chin/ear scratches.
6) Does your character have any phobias? He's a little wary of fire.
7) What could you do to get him/her into a blind rage? Hurt an innocent (most likely a friend/family member) in cold blood. To get him to a blind rage you'd probably have to severly hurt someone.
8) Does your OC like chickens? He'll often eat them whole. Sometimes they're cooked first. Sometimes they're dead first.
