Claim a prompt for drunken!Giles
And the Watcher opens with a double scotch...
It's the most wonderful time of the year and prompt claiming is now open!!!
Please comment below if you want to claim a prompt and write fabulous boozy Giles being somehow fabulous with booze. Multiple claims per person are permitted. Prompts can also be used by more than one person but it would be nice to share them around a bit if possible. If not, it's OK, I never, ever turn away new Giles fic.
We will stay on moderated posting until January 1st when I will drop the restriction and all stories or links to stories are welcome in the comm as separate posts.
If anyone writes anything christmasy themed and wants to post for Christmas Eve, I will let it through the queue early.
If anyone wants to post a drunken!Giles story that hasn't stemmed from the prompts, that's fine so long as it is an original story you have written since November 1st 2013. No raiding the archives please.

And so we begin...
1. The night the Hellmouth is closed Giles raids the minibar/mini fridge in his hotel room.
2. Buffy shows up with a bottle of scotch a few days after her mother's funeral, needing the support and comfort of her Watcher. - Considering I am a B/G shipper, it would be great if this one was shipped, but Watcher/Slayer bonding works too if it takes someone's fancy.Taken
3. Giles has been drinking and wants to set fire to something.
4. "I used to think inventorying the Magic Box would be dull." Giles has scotch and late night incentives. Taken
5. Three problems: Giles is trying to get home, he's very drunk, and someone appears to have stolen his clothes. Taken
6. Giles is troubled by ghosts. Or at least visions. The Scoobies aren't sure whether they are actually ghosts or... well, Giles has been drinking a lot lately.
7. Giles and Jenny in a bar, in their early days. She drinks whisky. He finds that terribly attractive. (G/J)
8. Xander's hoping to break into bartending (s4, probably). Giles is the only one he can practice on. There are cocktails. Odd cocktails. (Gen or G/X - or Anya trying a new product range for the Magic Shop if you prefer Giles/Anya)
9. The morning after the night before, Giles awakens to discover drink led him to.. who? (Giles/anyone, but the scarier the better. Snyder? Clem? Dawn?? - preferably not underage Dawn if so) Taken
10. Giles and Joyce really secretly enjoyed the band candy. They hid a stash of it when Buffy was cleaning up the town - and one night, they decide to indulge (Giles/Joyce, can include alcohol or just getting looped on the candy) Taken
11. Giles and Wesley - a toast to lost Slayers [totally sure this was a prompt before, but it was awesome]
12. Giles and a character from any other fandom get together to moan/commiserate/party/havetehsex/dothemagic or whatever! Taken
13. Someone admires the effect the cursed beer had on Buffy in ‘Beer Bad’, and makes sure Giles get a hold of a similar mixture (not necessarily caveman). The younger Scoobys must deal with the results.
14. Soon after ‘Becoming pt.2’ Giles can’t handle the nightmares and pain anymore and turns to the bottle, not caring whether or not he sees the next mourning. Any combination of the four remaining Scoobys (Willow, Xander, Oz, Cordy) find him in this state. While trying to absorb the few things he’s finally telling them of what happened, they have to convince him that it’s worth holding on.
15. Giles gets a call informing him that his only remaining family member and/or supporter on the Council Board has died. How does he deal with being alone, and does someone convince him that he’s not? (Not meant to be a romantic thing, but if that where it takes you…) Taken
16. Giles and Ethan are reminiscing over a few at a bar. Someone (or ones) overhears the conversation and jumps to all kinds of interesting conclusions. (Would be perfect for someone who knows how to use all the funny differences in British and American slang.)
17. Anya and Olivia strike up a conversation and begin unashamedly comparing lovers, much to the guy’s horror. All Giles and Xander can do is start drinking. Where do they all end up… you tell me.
18. Doublebooked!Giles has (at least) two dates/business appointments in the same night. Both expect him to have a drink with them, and he wouldn't want to disappoint anyone would he?
19. Someone knows (or experiments to find out), exactly how much alcohol is needed to get Ripper to come out to play.
20. Giles drinks some spiked eggnog and sees elves. Can be fun elves, evil elves, xmas elves or whatever :D
21. On the one year anniversary of the destruction of the Watcher's Council, Giles is getting drunk in a bar alone until someone comes to take him home … Taken
22. Post Chosen- Giles has isolated himself from the gang and is living in England. He's been drinking quite a lot and doesn't remember that it is the American Thanksgiving. Various members of the gang show up to bring him cheer/give thanks whatever.
23. Giles drunk on New Year's Eve. Can be at a party or alone. But it'd be nice if he started the New Year off happy :) Taken
24. The Dark Ages add-on - What's going through Giles' head as he finds out that all of his old friends are dead and exactly how many glasses of scotch he went through before the one we saw Taken
25. Giles just wants a quiet drink on his birthday, Anya has other ideas (shippy or friendship, cool either way)

27. While Buffy is MIA Joyce demands that Giles tell her all about the Slaying her daughter has done, and needs a drink to get through it all, naturally, he joins her

30. I'd love to read a sort of The World's End type story. Giles and Ethan go on an epic pub crawl that was never finished by his deceased mates back in the day. Unfortunately this go of it gets interrupted by something supernatural. Taken
31. Another darn apocalypse and the only solution is finding the right type of "poison" (only for the baddie) to kill the oncoming beast. Giles (and perhaps Ethan or Buffy or both) have the duty to help him in his quest. Unfortunately it is all based on taste and requires a raid on the local liquor store. Taken
32. It turns out swimming naked seems to be a great idea when you are drunk.
33. Young Giles gets his first taste of alcohol thanks to the incorrigible Ethan and earns the name Ripper. Taken
34. One night Xander comes round because seeing as Giles has a TV (Yes, he is as shallow as the rest of us) and they are both bored and alone he is going to introduce the stuffy old Englishman to drinking games.
35. Giles is home alone and far too much alcohol later he drunk dials the scoobies.
36. Have you ever wondered what Giles favourite hangover cure food is? I have. Now is your chance to write it.
37.Someone has cast a spell on Giles to assassinate his slayer. The only thing that keeps the spell from taking hold is alcohol. Can he and Buffy reverse the spell before it's too late? Taken
