it is in no way acceptable to spend an hour and a half on a homework project that provides no educational benefit whatsoever and generally lowers your appreciation for: art, spanish, mexican culture, and your teacher. The only percievable benefit of cutting out squares and diamonds to make holed pieces of paper is allowing Mrs. Taylor to have a really nice looking wall outside without having to do any work for it. If cultivating young minds is really that literal than i am unabashedly against it.
art projects are no longer cute, especially when it's a cheap american knock off of mexican culture. fucking manual crimsons superimposed above texmex traditions is not learning to appreciate mexican culture, it's learning to assimilate it. honestly that woman is despicable in more ways than i can describe, and yet she holds so much control that i doubt i will ever be able to really stand up to her. and she just won some teacher of the year award. if the classroom is merely a means to an end irrespective of the students within than she can surely have her fucking award but if teaching is supposed to be a method to enrich and inspire students to achieve and continue to do so throughout their lives then she should get the razzie.
