Why am I updating? I saw that I haven't updated in a year and I figured, what the heck.
Almost a year from today, I can say that it has been a crazy time since August 2006. I am happy with how things are and this busy summer has definitely kept me on my feet.
This summer, I have been involved in a lot of things. Let me show you:
- I'm in 3 bands, 2 on hiatus till school starts, 1 being formed
- Teaching 2-4 students in private lessons
- Teaching the Drumline at Cranston East
- Arranged an entire 35 song musical (Seussical) in 3 weeks
- Playing for Fantasy Works all summer (total number of different shows: 5)
- Dogsitting for Mr. A
- Working with 2 songwriters
- Peer Advising students at Berklee for their summer semester
- Working at the Apple store at Providence Place
Working at Apple has been the best job I ever had. It's amazing how much fun it is working with things you love. Based on all the stuff I've been doing, I've literally had no vacation. But, for the first time all summer, I am on a vacation right now.
I have been here in Haymarket, VA since yesterday. I arrived at Union Station in Washington D.C. yesterday at 12:45. I am here visiting my good friend, Ashley, from Berklee. Her friends Andrew and Rachel joined us on a small tour around D.C. I would have loved to have seen more of it, but the weather is a crazy 101 degrees so we were wiped by the end of the day. I really love seeing Virginia because it's so different from Cranston or Boston. It's very rural and the houses here are very Southern. I love going to places completely out of the norm and seeing all this countryside is great. It gets you to think that there really is so much out there in the world and that you should take every opportunity to travel.
It's been weird because I haven't been on any set schedule here. When I'm home, I'm always checking my agenda and filling in my calendars (yes, more than 1). When I get back to Rhode Island on Monday, my hectic schedule begins again.
I've been having a great summer hanging out with friends, old and new, and I can't wait to get back to school.
Who knows if I'll update again soon, maybe. It's been cool updating this again. We shall see.
Later.
