Finally, I'm at Berklee

Well, it's been a while.

It's been a week and a day since I've been living in Boston. I absolutely love it. Being in Boston is everything I imagined, plus even more great stuff.

From my dorm on Mass Ave, I can see Wendy's and Dunkin Donuts. For those who remember where the Berklee High School Jazz Festival is, I live practically around the corner from the Hynes Convention Center. The room is bigger than I thought it would be. We have our own personal bathroom. We have a lot of walking room. Carl is an awesome roommate. We could almost be the same person, that's how alike we are. We've been watching movies, playing Super Smash Bros. and Halo with other dorms through XBox Live, making s'mores, all sorts of stuff. It's been awesome.

The classes have been awesome. The theory and sight singing stuff is different than RIC and classical studies. Berklee focuses more on contemporary music such as jazz, rock, and pop, so the theory is more involved with that than traditional (classical) theory. The teachers here are really cool. They know what they're talking about and have tons of experience playing out.

Berklee students are required to get a PowerBook G4 (it's a Mac) and I have to say, this is an awesome computer. They even put music programs on it for our future programming needs. We even have a mini keyboard for music sequences.

We're around a lot of malls. Newbury Street is around the corner, which has tons of stores. The Prudential Center is close, and Copley Place is connected to that. Lots of food places too.

I'm going home this weekend for a little bit, then I'll be back to Boston. I'm so glad I'm here. I have my first private lessons tomorrow and my drum lab. Carl and I have the same drum lab, which is sweet.

It's great that Cat is a mile away. We've had a lot of fun going places around Boston. :-)

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Later.
