A new raccoon.

I just got back from Bonnaroo. The past four days have easily been the best four days of my life.

Throughout all the chaos of nearly 80,000 music enthusiasts gathered across 700 acres of farmland with every drug known to mankind thrown into the mix, something beautiful happened. I stumbled upon another furry hanging out in my camp, a friend of a friend of a friend. Within about an hour of hanging out with each other, we pretty much knew that we were soul mates.

So it appears that I am no longer a solo act. ;) Drumming Raccoon and Roz Wolfheart are a package deal. In the time that we spent together over the weekend, we bonded into a strong spiritual singularity that still has my head spinning. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before... This is the happiest I have ever been in my life.

Now, as for Bonnaroo itself, the scheduling pissed me off because too many sets I wanted to see were overlapping, but the shows that I saw were the BEST.

Les Claypool did some shit I've never seen before. It was only a year ago that I last saw him and he (and his band) have gotten ten billion times more amazing. It was one of the last shows he was doing with that solo band for a while because soon, he's going back to tour with PRIMUS!

GWAR invaded the stage like heavily armored rampaging space monsters playing slaughter metal because, well, that's what they are... Being there in front of that shit was like being repeatedly punched in the face with a fist full of fucking AWESOME at machine gun speed. At the end of the show, they battled a gigantic four story tall robot on stage and then Obama came out to give them an award of ass kissing gratitude for saving the world, to which they responded by chopping his face off with an axe and playing one last song. Seriously, that was one of the most amazing fucking things I've ever seen. GWAR has made a fan out of me for life. Who would've thought that a bag of mushrooms and monsters playing metal would've gone so well?

Jay Electronica, a rapper out of New Orleans, played a KILLER set on Friday afternoon. He told the audience to say fuck it and bum rush the stage, then he rapped a little with everyone up there and then jumped down into the sea of people to continue. After he finished, I found him outside beside the stage passing blunts around, so I hopped into rotation for a moment to give him a copy of my CD.

Rhythmystik, a two-piece tribal percussion band, is one my most favorite new discoveries from Bonnaroo. I caught them Thursday night and they blew me away with their drumming.

Damien Marley and Nas was the closest thing I've ever had to a religious experience. I cried tears of power as my life was transformed by these two guys and their band, one song at a time, a healing process that has lifted me to new spiritual heights in life.

Circa Survive put on a very high energy show that fucking rocked. Even though their style isn't really what I'm into, that show was a major bonding experience for my lover and I as we danced, headbanged and grinded. I must say, I am overjoyed to have a lover who knows how to pay respect to her favorite band by remaining topless the entire time. :)

Jay Z sucked.

All in all, I saw too much awesome shit in one weekend to list it all. I need to go wash four days worth of hippie funland off of me now and get some sleep...

Today, I recover. Tomorrow, I begin preparations to move to Huntsville.

I am definitely feeling more powerful than ever before.
