what happened to Discovery Atlas?

Sep 27, 2007 15:57

Last year the Discovery Channel introduced a new series entitled "Discovery Atlas" taking an in depth look at different countries. It was advertised as looking into 20 countries over the next 5 years.  It's first season, airing during October 2006 covered China, Brazil, Italy and Australia. And the second season was scheduled for October 2007. But what happened? I've been looking forward to this special since the last one went off. I've been anticipating the announcement of what countries they will be profiling. But here it is almost October and I haven't seen any promos for it. Their website hasn't been updated since last year (nor has the Australian website). And the tv schedule for next month doesn't include the show. I'm so sad. I want to know what happened. I've been waiting for this forever! And the only information I can find on the show is from wikipedia (i know, the most trusted source on the internet) and even then it's only pure speculation. And it states " Although the second season had at one time been promised for October 2007, the Atlas project has not been updated or repositioned in many months, leading to speculation that the ambitious series has been canceled due to financial concerns. "

Oh wait! Just now I found on the Discovery Communications website it states under "Series in 2007" it lists Discovery Atlas taking us to Mexico, South Africa and India. But I wonder when they will air?
