i am so very pissed like you wouldn't belive...
i e-mailed my voice teacher because she gave me a "c" for the semester and i wanted to know why and this is what she said and what the other teachers from my jury said:
Hi Sarah - I brought home the jury sheets so that I could review them
thoroughly before writing to you. I believe the best approach is to
present excerpts from the jury sheets of the jury members:
Dr. Williams: (despite being sick) " as a performer you most
communicate with the audience - eye contact- the meaning of the words
must be on your face - your singing must be more advanced than this-
you should consider changing majors"
Dr. Grapenthin: "you are detached from the music. I know you are sick,
however, this has nothing to do with your being sick. Listen, listen
listen. Is voice your best career choice?"
Dr. Sabatino: " Although there has been some improvement this
semester, the vocal sound is still breathy, and the line has little
legato. She presents notes, and not music. She does not appear to
grasp the concept that breath energizes sound, and is the foundation
for good singing. Both jury members adivse that Sarah consider
changing majors, and I agree."
I suggest you see me at the beginning of fall semester so that we can
plan your vocal training for that semester. In fact, it would be a
very good idea for Dr. Williams to join us. If you were not a voice
major, we could simply work on technique, but as a voice major you have
to meet repertoire requirements as well as demonstrate advancement in
your sound and presentation.
first of all i was sick like so sick i could barley even talk so really i didn't perform well and i am so pissed. if i don't continue being a voice major i am dropping out of school...like for real for real what the hell am i supposed to do? i suck at everything i do and i can't do this anymore...life sucks...i quit, i'm don't know what to do anymore...
