Philosophy 101
I'm in class right. I have to find something to keep myself entertained, so I'm going to update this every hour on what exactly we're doing in the class. I'm guess now, at 8:04 that its going to be a boring day. Nothing but a lot of talk. Most of the football games start around 1 pm to 5 pm so I'll have to wait for those. So anyways, class is about to start.

She showed us this "proof" a philosopher came up with to prove the existance of God. We spent the entire time saying nothing about it. People in this class think they're so smart, they just sit there and wait for their turn to say their stupid little 'profound' statements. It really bugs me. There's one kid here who is just a major suckup, and thinks he knows everything about the subject. I'm already wishing I was somewhere else. Here's the proof. Misery loves company.
1. God is that being than which non greater can be conceived to exist.
2. Anybody who understands this has the idea of God in his understanding
3. According to 1 and 2, God exists then in the understanding
4. It is possible to exist in realty as well as in the understanding
5. It is greater to exist in reality that to exist in the understanding alone
6. according to 1 and 5, so God exists...
This is bs. I believe in God, but not because of this. Logic and Reason don't MAKE things true, they help desribe truth. Logically a lot of things are supposed to happen, but they don't, or vice versa.

So we've been discusing Aquinas' "five ways" of proving god exists. These two people were debating quite intensly. We'll call them mohawk kid and red shirt boy. Mohawk boy has the advantage intellectually, its obvious after a while. Here's a rough version of the dialogue that we've been laughing about in the back since.
Mohawk kid: Well, I believe ants and bees do have rational thought and the fact that they know where to go for food shows that.
RSB: No, they're insects, they don't think. that shows they must be controlled by design. What makes you think insects can think?
Mohawk kid: The fact that they have a central nervous system...
RSB: What does that have to do with anything?!
Mohawk Kid: Well I'm just saying it disproves aquinas' point that insects are controlled by god...
RSB: You can't prove your point! Prove it! Prove insects can think.
Mohawk: Well, what i'm saying is you can't prove either one, so this logic doesn't prove god exists. I want Aquinas' to drag his bones in here and prove his point he made all those years ago(sarcastic).
RSB: Well that's just illogical (serious)

Wasn't really paying attention. I was playing on my n64 emulator. The guy next to me was playing WoW. THen I had lunch. Now I'm back for round 2 of hell.

Still arguing in class about the existance of god. We're talking about wether or not god has free will if he's perfect. There is no point. Good thing CBS sports has live play by play updates on games. Boise State, who was the 6 point underdog against Utah, is ahead 23-3 at halftime. Even both of our rivals are playing. Idaho is beating Utah state 17-14.
