I'm not what you'd call a dedicated blogger but two months between posts seems a bit much, even for me. So, while I have a bit of a lull between musicals and before the holiday season kicks in, I thought I'd catch you up on stuff and do at least one meme. Ready?
When last I posted, I had four new kittens and their momma in my home, much to the dismay of my own cats. At four weeks old, I passed them on to an older couple who have a larger home and more sociable cats. The last I heard, two of the kittens have been adopted and the momma cat will be staying with the couple. I took some video the day before they left so here, for your enjoyment, is kitty wrestling...
pics.livejournal.com/drumher/pic/0008q9t3 While caring for 9 cats (yikes), I also had rehearsals and performances for three groups to fit in. Needless to say, it got a little crazy for a while and sleep was not something I got much of. Still, it was very exciting to be a part of the "world premiere" of a new musical about Millard Fillmore. Probably the only musical about Millard Fillmore, really. I learned quite a lot about our mostly-forgotten 13th President. Unfortunately, he was stuck between the proverbial rock and a hard place when it came to signing the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 but his wife started the Presidential library so his tenure wasn't a total loss. The drawback to being in the Pit is that you rarely get to see the action on stage and usually can't hear the actors while they're singing so I'm trying to get a DVD from the show so i can see what I missed. I did take my camera one night and shot some video from the pit during one of the pieces I'm not playing in.
pics.livejournal.com/drumher/pic/0008p5as You can see just see Steve DeForest (Millard) on stage. Too bad you can't hear him as he has a lovely voice and he's not bad to look at either. He's listed on IMDB, if you're curious.
Now "The Candy Meme"
Introduce your friends to the sweet stuff from your side of the world! Post this on your blog and send a care package of your favorite candy to the first three people who comment with the words "sugar high". All they have to do in return is post a simple review of the products and name their favorites once they've received and scoffed the goods.
I was lucky enough to be one of the three to get my sugar high from
gilpin25 and she sent me the following delectable selections from Great Britain.
My guest reviewers were my niece Claire (12) and nephew Colton (5), whose mum is British and were already familiar with many of the selections. As soon as I dumped my booty on the table, Colton grabbed the Buttons and ate most of them before I could have a taste! My absolute fav had to be the toffees and chews, especially the orange flavored ones. Not too keen on the coffee ones, though so don't send anymore of those! Next would be the Galaxy and Dairy Milk bars. I'm partial to Milk Chocolate, so these were right up my taste-alley. Very creamy and smooth. Yumm. Maltesers were very much like our own Malted Milk balls and I gobbled them right up. Smarties are M&M's with a harder , flavored candy shell. Again, the orange ones were the best. Not sure what flavor the blue was supposed to be. I was told that all Fruit Pastilles have at least one black current flavor but my package did not and I was greatly disappointed by this. Kit Kat Chunky was awesome and the Polo's Spearmint are just like Lifesaver's so a good thing to pop in for a bit of a freshen up. Not much of a gum chewer so I let the kids finish the pack and the Twix was only 98 calories which affected the taste enough that I would rather eat the regular fattening full-calorie version.
Thank you Karen for the package. Send more toffees/chews anytime. If anybody (or at least the first three) out there would like me to send you a care package, just comment. You can live in the States too, I don't care. I can probably find some holiday-themed treats to send your way.
It should surprise none of you that I have also been working on a home improvement project. I too have been renovating my bedroom and it's almost finished so I'll be posting pictures soon. I wanted to do something dramatic this time so I was looking at Aqua for the walls but I needed to find my bedspread before I bought the paint. I found a brown spread with a pink hibiscus flower pattern that I thought would complement the walls perfectly. It was only when chatting with
gilpin25 about her bedroom that I realized I had inadvertently chosen the Lupin family colors of Brown, Pink and Turquoise! Really, it wasn't planned. Honestly! LOL.
I'm sure there's more I could bore you with but I'll leave that to another time. The next
metamorfic_moon challenge has started and I got some good prompts so I hope to get something done during the busy holiday season. There's also rehearsals for the next musical I have to work around. This time I'll be on stage for Cabaret. I'll be a member of the Kit Kat Club's band and doing my Victor/Victoria impersonation of a woman playing a man who's playing a woman. The other boys in the band have it easy as they'll only be men playing women. I will definitely be sharing pictures of that show!
Happy Thanksgiving to those in the States.
