Sarah - Chapter V

Sep 16, 2004 18:29

After a long night with Maynord in his house of wonders, Sarah went home to her love. Zoe was sound asleep when she returned. After all it was 3am. Sarah sighed, changed and slipped into bed next to her sleeping Venus. Despite her best efforts to not rouse the sleeping Zoe she arose and asked groggily:
"Where have you been all night? I got home hours ago and you weren't here. I tried to wait up for you, but i was too tired."
"I'm sorry. I - I was out looking at the city."
"And what did you possibly see on a Tuesday night?"
"Well not much...." Sarah said, avoiding what she had really seen that night.
"I didn't think so." Zoe said, obviously annoid.
"I'm sorry. I -"
"Yeah, you said that. Doesn't change that I was worried."
"I know." Sarah muttered, looking at the floor. Zoe had a way of making Sarah feel like a little girl. She didn't much like that, but what was she to do? She loved Zoe, there really wasn't much she could say or do to make her stop.
"Just go to sleep. I'm too tired to talk about this now. We'll talk in the morning." Zoe grumbled.
"OK. I love you."
Silence.
"-sigh-" And with that Sarah lay down and tried to sleep.

Sarah slept restlessly. And her dreams disturbed her. She tossed and turned till Zoe Woke and nudged her awake.
"You tossed and turned all night. You kept waking me up. Your never like that. Whats bothering you?"
"I hate going to bed with you mad at me. You know that."
"I'm sorry, but you really worried me lastnight."
"I know. It's just I'd never gotten to look at the city, so I thought I would take the opportunity to do so."
"Thats fine, it just would have been nice if you called!" Zoe was beginning to get heated.
"I'm sorry. It wont happen again. I promise!"
And that was that. Zoe left for work still obviously rattled but what else could Sarah have said? She certainly could tell her where she was lastnight. That was out of the question. But she had to go back. What was she to say next time? Sarah spent the rest of the day at work thinking of what excuse she could use. This was no good. No good at all.
