Dear Drew,

There is no electricity.  No water.  No groceries.  No stores to buy anything.  No gas.  No Phones.  No cell phones.  Nothing works yet.  We are leaving tomorrow, hoping that we can get through the downed trees and electrical lines.  We have a generator, if there is a house left, maybe we can have enough power for water and lights until we get power back.  (Two to 3 weeks, maybe?)  If there is no house, we will pick up anything of value that remains, put it in Dad's shed, and head to Texas.  We just don't know.  I may have no way to contact you for a few weeks, just try not to worry.  We will get word out when we have communication again.  We have definitely lost the 2 businesses in New Orleans.  Things will be tight for awhile.  We don't know if the government is going to let us build them again, or how we can do that if they will.  Just a complete mess, but we are better off than those people in N.O.  They have no way to get anything, except that some of them are stealing it.  Have you been watching CNN or Fox?  I10 is gone, so is one lane of the causeway.  We just don't know what is going on, so we are going to try to get back to where we can find out more.

I love you, and will talk to you as soon as I can.

Mom
