How do you follow up a 3-disc concept album?

I've listened to very little music today that isn't by the Early November. I think that this is mostly because I was just extremely impressed by their performance last night. I'd seen them once before, but it was at a time when I knew maybe their name and a song or two, and I think I may have walked into the venue half way through their set if I remember correctly.

However, as soon as they announced that this would be their last tour as a band, the show took on a whole new "tone" with me. It was exciting to watch, but I was sad(I fought back a tear or two, not gonna lie). Ace from the Early November is one of my favorite two song writers(Ben Gibbard being the other). His solo album(under the name "I can make a mess like nobody's business") is incredible. I can only hope that Ace and the other guys continue to make music that inspires me.

I guess I can understand why they are throwing in the towel. How do you fall up a 3-disc concept album? Seriously. Especially when you consider how many times they had to re-do the entire third disc. I'm really sad that they are done, but at the same time, I'm glad that they didn't force a shitty album like their former label mates Finch did(2005's Say Hello to Sunshine) before calling it quits.

Good-bye Early November, you were a good friend.

PS- Thank you for breaking into Oasis's Champagne Supernova during one of your songs.
