dc dystopia art: ain't a one of us perfect (and that's okay)
I was lucky enough to have umbrellas_can claim my art in the reverse bang round of dc_dystopia, and she wrote a wonderful story which y'all should go check out here.
Fic Summary: Fantasy AU. Every kingdom demands order. Michael's kingdom demands perfection. He finds it in the creations cleverly crafted by a metalsmith named Castiel. But will his greatest invention live up to all of Michael's high expectations?
Art Rating: PG-13 for half-covered ass.

This was the original prompt piece, and the originan thought behind it was something along the lines of slave!Dean and the loss of identity that comes with being a slave, when your will is taken away and you don't even own yourself. When umbrellas_can decided to head in a robot!Dean direction, I flailed a bit - I love it when people come up with something completely different than I had in mind from the same root! I considered painting Dean's face in at that point, but I liked it more this way, and Dean in the story is human enough for him to still lose his identity when enslaved to Michael.

I had actually intended the second piece to be a Dean/Cas or Cas piece, but once I started brainstorming thoughts this one would not leave me alone. It's a bit more stylised than in the fic, where Dean's skin is a goo that's applied, but I figured Cas would still need to have someway to access Dean's gears once his skin was applied, in order to conduct repairs or perform tweaks. Since it's a fantasy setting, I went with a more steam-punky approach to his inner workings, using brass and command tapes rather than computer chips. I used brighter, unnaturally vivid colours for Dean, especially in regards to his hair which is a lot more golden than I'd usually portray it, since Cas is designing Dean to be perfect and I thought he might heighten aspects such as Dean's eyes, hair and lips to make them (even) more striking.
