In my last post, I mentioned about seeing "Evil Dead: The Musical". Well, it was hilarious. Good music and songs. Great choreography and acting. Overall, Lara and I had a really good time. There was a surprise when we walked into the auditorium to see this musical. Everyone in the first 2 rows was wearing plastic garbage bags over their clothes. It was like going to a Gallagher show. After we got to our seats I browsed through the program and read this warning:
"EVIL DEAD: THE MUSICAL contains evil, brain-eating damned creatures of the un-dead. During the course of tonight's performance, it may become necessary to dispatch a demon or two. Now while we make every effort to keep the carnage to a minimum, SOME SPLATTER MAY OCCUR. So, if you for some reason wore dry-clean garments, you should probably be at Phantom of the Opera or the Ballet. Or if you are a bit squeamish around demon blood, please see an usher for a "Toxic Blood Protection Shield". It might help, it might not. Oh, and if you have a phone or PDA out and it gets ruined because of demon blood, too damn bad."
The line about Phantom of the Opera was because down the street, in a much larger venue, Phantom of the Opera was playing at the same time.
Yes, some splatter did occur. During the second to last song, the main character killed off 5 demons. During this time, people behind the stage sprayed fake blood from Super Soakers all over the stage and into the audience. We were sitting far enough back to keep clean but it was really funny. It turned out to be a fun evening.
For the last month I have been reading a very good book.
The Hot Zone is a true story about Ebola and an outbreak of it that happened just outside of Washington D.C. The book can get very gruesome at times. For me, the worst part was when the author describes the final hours of someone dying of Ebola. His description of a person "crashing and bleeding out" is very graphic. I'm almost done with this book and I have found it very interesting and informative. If anyone is looking for a good, non-fiction book, I definitely recommend it.
