Why did he have to spend more time with that life-wrecking leech, who lived off of human energy, their happiness. He stole it all and kept it locked away. He laughed at other's misfortune, stomping enthusiastically on their hearts, shattering them in the process. And he didn't mind. He thought it was fun. Because everything seemed right in that twisted mind of his when he reminded everyone that he was torturing humanity because he was in love with it. Shizuo hated people like Izaya the most. He despised the way they lied and got away with it. They used their dirty tricks and lies to their advantage, as a weapon. They knew what they were doing all too well and they were doing it on purpose. Because they could. Not because they had to, not because they wanted to, not because they needed to. Just because they wanted to prove that they could do it. It was a power-play of sorts. With them being the puppeteers, pulling other people's strings, sometimes cutting one or two and waiting until the puppet collapsed on itself.
That was exactly the kind of men Heiwajima Shizuo abhorred. And that was also exactly the kind of man Orihara Izaya was.
Shizuo looked out of the window. The sun came out already and shone on the city lightly, waiting for the gangs, demons, shadows, murderers and all the other creatures that lurked within Ikebukuro to show up. As they finally left Ikebukuro, he got dreamy again, this time completely erasing all thoughts. Simply breathing in and breathing out - nothing more, yet nothing less. A basic process that could help him calm down every time he needed it and didn't have a cigarette.
As the annoying bastard's voice reached him again, he groaned inwardly and got out of the car, letting the louse pay. He was a rich little shit after all. Wouldn't hurt his wallet, unlike Shizuo's.
He didn't bother waiting for Izaya to finish talking and entered the building with him following, finding Izaya's apartment soon enough. Yeah, he'd been here a few times. Some indebted people seemed to be Izaya's clients so Tom and he waited for them outside the door. But when Shizuo first saw who lived inside he almost destroyed the entire apartment complex. Thankfully, Tom was able to stop him. Later on, Shizuo found out that the place was not only Izaya's office but he also seemed to live there. Yet he never attacked him sleeping, he just wouldn't be able to do that. To anyone.
Izaya soon pulled a key out of his pocket. After some minor struggle, he was finally able to let Shizuo in, soon having to come with him.
Shizuo just stood in awe. Yes, he'd seen the apartment once already, but it was more of a quick glance before red filled his vision. This time he could see the black floor properly. It was complex - with few stairs when you wanted to get to the kitchen and bookshelf. There was also a second floor. And books again. He wondered just how many there were in this flat alone.
Izaya interrupted him once again.
“Well Shizu-chan, I know that a civilized apartment is something new for you but don't worry, I'm sure you'll be able to deal with the wonders of electricity... probably.”
“FLEA!”
No punch this time, huh, Izaya noted. It looked as if some shock therapy could help him get rid of Shizuo's stupid habit - interfering with other people's business. Ah, unfortunately, he'd have to leave that till later unless he wanted to be burnt to a crisp.
