The three humans eyed the last kitten, the pure white ball of sexual prowess, trying to hump Sakuraya. Shitsuo bit at his tail. The unnamed kitten ran to Shizuo who straightened his tail in preemptive warning. He was similarly denied by Hachimenroppi, Tsukishima, and Izaya. Hibiya tried to reject his unwanted affection but couldn't seem to escape.
"That is one weird cat," the vet deadpanned.
Psyche tried to smile but Tsugaru could tell he was trying not to frown. "He's a pervert..."
The remaining man tried to seem unfazed by the clear awkwardness in the room. "Delic."
Both looked up to him and asked in unison, "What's Delic?"
"I don't know. It just...sounds right."
Psyche just grinned. "It's weird but Tsu-chan named him. So if Tsu-chan likes it, then I like it as well!"
The vet wrote the final name down.

Psyche returned to work the next day, leaving Tsugaru alone in the house with the cats. It wasn't that Tsugaru never worked but his job had the luxury of working from home. He sold custom made kiseru, a line of work that didn't often call him directly into the office unless he needed to meet with a client. He holed himself in his work den but a meow from outside the door kept nagging at the back of his head. Finally he stood up and greeted the cat. Hibiya sat expectantly at his feet and meowed again.
It had been one week since the vet had given them their check up and shots. This was a familiar routine. Tsugaru could differentiate Hibiya's different meows. For example, the meow presently voiced was a regal demand for milk. He padded down the hall for the kitchen. Izaya ran up to him to be held, soon chased by Shizuo.
"Izaya, stop that."
Tsugaru lifted Izaya out of reach, knowing that Shizuo would scratch his eyeballs out if given the chance. The kittens had all been declawed but Shizuo especially was ruthless. Nothing would stop him, claws or not.
Sakuraya was already waiting by the milk dish. Shitsuo pawed at the refrigerator and Tsugaru was sure that if Shitsuo were human, he would have already served the milk.
"Come, Tsukishima."
The shyest kitten peaked up from behind the couch. Tsugaru knew Hachimenroppi was impossible to call unless he called Tsukishima's name. They approached for lunch together.
That left... "Delic!"
Tsugaru dropped Izaya on the counter, out of Shizuo's reach. Of course, Izaya only hopped down and returned to teasing its favored playmate. The man didn't have time with separating those two when Delic was trying to mount Hibiya again. With Delic tucked under an arm and Shizuo and Izaya hissing at each other, he set a large bowl on the center of the kitchen floor and poured a quart of milk for the animals. Delic licked the side of side of his face before Tsugaru placed him on the ground. He watched the kittens arrange themselves around the dish in perfect harmony. Tsugaru smiled at the rather relaxing sight.

"Linda says he can't take in a kitten right now," Psyche sighed. He collapsed onto the couch beside Tsugaru. Hibiya jumped into Psyche's lap. Izaya was already lounging high above the others on the ledge of the backrest. His tail curled around Tsugaru's ear. Shizuo and Delic rubbed themselves against his legs and meowed impatiently for attention. The other two, Tsukishima and Hachimenroppi, sat on opposite armrests. Sakuraya sat on Tsugaru's shoulders and Shitsuo had at some point squished himself right between Tsugaru and Psyche. The two looked at all the cats gathered around them. Neither wanted to admit that this overwhelming comfort would be direly missed.
No, Tsugaru didn't want to admit it. He looked Psyche in the eye and swallowed. "Ah. Then...can we keep them?"
"Eight," Psyche reminded in that You Were The One Who Told Me No tone.
Tsugaru nodded back, silently confirming. "Eight."
Psyche smiled. He kissed each cat once on the head and then kissed Tsugaru on the cheek eight times.
