And then her words register in his head, reminding him of the deal he made with Kururi and Mairu, and it wipes the smug grin off his face. He's plopped down on his own couch, sandwiched between his sisters. Namie closes the door softly behind her, taking sadistic comfort in the fact that he'll be suffering for the next two hours at the very least.
Izaya's eardrums tremble as they're assaulted by the high pitched squeals that accompany every time Shizu-chan's little brother shows up on the screen. More unsettling to him is the exchange he had with Namie before she walked out. He had no intention of turning her into another one of his devotees; he doesn't need another weepy girl asking where he is, or why he hasn't called. Amusing as it would be to see her on her knees, begging to be taken any way he wanted, it'd detract from all the things that make her interesting: The way she coldly returns his verbal barbs with some of her own, irreverently does things behind his back, refuses to contain the sick pleasure she gets from seeing his vulnerabilities exposed, or the glee she feels when she shoves them back in his face; and how she does all of it in spite of how he intimidates her. He's surely a masochist for allowing her to do them again and again, but he's curious to see if she really can get the better of him once and for all.
Despite the way she frustrates him, he wants to keep her around. So he hatched this little plan to seduce her, give her just a little taste of his personal brand of poison, not enough to be fatal-- it wouldn't be fun if one of his more useful toys were irreparably broken. She's already developing immunity, and as he increases the dosage, over time she'll become just as toxic as he is. Like the Vish Kanya* of Hindu lore, she'd be untouchable to any normal human.
He's sure the reason he wants to keep her to himself it isn't because he loves her more than any other human, or even that feels something as pathetic as loneliness, although they both know he doesn't have any friends. There's just something pleasant about the idea, and he'll save further analysis on why for another day. For now, he's content with the image of her cheeks tinged red in embarrassment and desire, the sweet sound of her crying out his name, and the soft feel of her skin against his fingertips.
Lost in his own thoughts, he giggles evilly, until Kururi's nails digging into his arm snaps him back to reality. On his other side, the glint of thumbtacks in a box force his eyes back to screen, as Heiwajima Yuuhei's character deadpans out a love confession to the teary-eyed female lead.
"We can't have you drifting off, Iza-nii. You promised to watch this with us, right?"
"pay attention..."
Kururi likes him best when he's at home like this, stuck on his couch between her and Mai-chan, not out making trouble for Shizuo-san and everyone else. Which was why the twins went along with his stupid plan to take Namie-san. They had hoped that screwing his assistant might be a good enough distraction, but unfortunately, a night of passion doesn't cause epiphanies the way they do in movies. Neither she or her younger twin could have anticipated the full extent of Namie's love for Yagiri-senpai, or their own brother's failure to recognize how lonely he actually is; the way the pair avoid civility like it's poison, preferring to snipe and bicker at each other like children. For people as smart as they are, there are times when she and her little sister agree that those two so-called 'adults' are complete idiots.
It's only a minor setback in their plans; they know he's got her on his mind, and that she's probably taking a cold shower in her own apartment, thinking of him. Just like a drug, little by little, those two will get accustomed to each other's company; maybe even learn to enjoy it without purposely trying to hurt each other. They don't know and they don't care whether Namie and their older brother fall in love or not; but it's only a matter of time before those troublesome meddlers are off the streets once and for all.
TBH I'm on the fence-ish about them? I mean, the snark they toss around is AMAZING, but that's not a good foundation for a healthy romantic relationship. Loyalty (lol) and honesty (lololol) aren't strong points for either of them.
