There just weren't any words to describe it, the amazing feeling of freedom that came with the realization that finally; Heiwajima Shizuo had conquered his own strength. It was quite the paradox, yet such feat still amazed him. So instead of conveying his feelings through words or a cry of victory like others would've done, he simply laughed. He laughed a
full and hearty laugh, sitting on the hard concrete of the park, under the illuminated night of the Ikebukuro sky.
Everything still looked the same, yet so many opportunities were now open to him, so many tangible possibilities. Shizuo felt...he felt, well, happy with himself, with his life, with others--except the louse.
Yet people still felt the danger that emanated from him, everyone knew by now that it was best to keep their distance. Of course there were those that still foolishly tried to push their luck, feeling a slight difference
in him, but their attempts were promptly thwarted--he was still the same bartender that could shred them to pieces if he felt like it. Yet Shizuo did not let these minor problems bother him. After all, his boss had said to him "The hard thing is not getting there (well. at least in your case), but keeping yourself there". Shizuo had nodded then and gratefully accepted the piece of advise.
Although, in reality only a few of days had passed since that fateful night, to Shizuo it already felt like an eternity. So it was while collecting debts with his boss in the streets of Ikebukuro, that Shizuo found himself wondering what he could do with his newly found strength. Then he noticed (he had been doing that a lot more lately) all the couples in the streets walking hand in hand, cuddling, or simply arguing with one another. Now there was something he hadn't really thought about before:

A few days had passed since the Slasher incident. The event had left him feeling more than unsettled, since some claimed that the Dollars were the ones behind it. So far, all the information that he had been able to
obtain was that the brawl took place in the Ikebukuro West Gate Park and that Heiwajima Shizuo had been involved...or more like beaten almost everyone in there to a pulp. This man, Mikado thought, he needed to know more about but would actually hate to encounter face to face in a dark alleyway. But what are the chances of that happening anyway, it's not like he actually would...right?
"Right, Mikado?"
"Huh, what?" Mikado looked up startled to find Kida slightly pouting, making him look much like an angry child.
"Man, what's with you? You've been spacing out a lot lately!"
"Oh sorry, it must be because I didn't get enough sleep last night." Mikado said while rubbing the back of his head
making an effort to look apologetic. At this Anri had looked slightly concern and was about to say something but Kida spoke first.
"Oh don't tell me that it's because you've been thinking of someone special. Yeah, I can see it in your face right now. You devil, you!" Said Kida with a mischievous voice, accompanied by a mischievous smile. The other boy, immediately denied such claim and instead asked him what they'd been talking about, so as to fend off the disturbing implications that came to mind.
"Oh, well I was saying that rumors had been going around about what happened a few nights ago. People have been freaking out lately, since a lot of crazy stuff had been happening more often...well, a lot more that usual. I also hear that Heiwajima Shizuo was involved. Scary isn't it, Anri? I can walk you home if you're scared."
"No, thank you, I'm fine Kida-kun." Smiled the girl and continued walking with them.
Well nothing new to be learn there, thought Mikado. They had been walking home from school and it would soon be getting dark and it'd be time to part ways. The thought of something happening to his friends made Mikado feel uneasy, but the teen tried not to worry. It had been really quiet lately...
