Ooh - Gore!

Just watched "Event Horizon". It was better than I expected - quite creepy with some interesting and imaginative gore. Watching Sam Neil dig out his own eyes was strangely compelling.

A Hit!

"Where we're going, you won't need eyes to see...."

The production design was pretty, too.

Oh yes. I particularly liked the design of the ship "Event Horizon". The flashes of ultra-gore at the end were quite imaginative too.

I'm not normally a fan of that sort of creepy, something's about to leap out at you horror, but I do like Event Horizon. Less so the later bits that get outright horror-y, but the first half or so I love. It's such a great cast.

I liked the way the cast gradually became more paranoid. Very atmospheric - especially where the latin gets translated properly. The airlock scene was a very gruesome though, as were the flashes of the other dimension.

You're much braver than I am! I saw EH when it first came out and even thinking of it gives me the willies!

I really liked it, except for Sam Neill, who I thought was a) appallingly hammy and b) very badly made up (in the second half when he had the make up).

appallingly hammy

Have you seen Omen 3?! In Event Horizon he was positively restrained in comparison!

That makeup had quite a bit of Hellraiser about it. Cenobite anyone?

I was cooking for gothgrr many years ago and she was watching that film. I managed to serve a plate of dumplings and stew just after the eyeball scene (unintentionally, I've never seen the film). Oddly she declared herself not hungry.
