You’ve seen the project pics. However Nick did not come to “death” until late Thursday morning. I had a basic plan with his makeup. I had a better idea with Irish’s and I think hers looked better.
Here is the completed Nick costume with Irish’s completed gray lady costume.
In action:
The Ben Nye grey I used isn’t very creamy like the foundations. I had a difficult time applying it. Maybe I should have let it heat up in the sun. LOL.
I wore “regular” disposable contacts from 2 prescriptions ago. They went in fine. Removing them later was an issue. But it was nice not to wear glasses as Nick.
I really liked the Nick costume. Nick is easy to wear when the cloak is buttoned to the shoulder. It’s a lightweight costume. My feet handled the shoes really well, much better than Augusta’s. Nick is an easier character to wear. Nick is mostly a happy and helpful ghost with regrets. It means he smiles. I can finally get a costume I can smile in and not mentally tax me.
Nick had two types of makeup. Thursday was grey. Friday I switched to white. I think I look like V as in Vendetta in the white makeup but it works.
Nick did have some costume fail. On the second day a dar let go, making the pants big. When I started making Nick I was probably 12 pounds heavier. So that’s a reprair or I am ripping out the waist band and redoing it.
Nick exists due to the death day art project that Dixiebell12 wanted to do. Sadly she was so busy she could get into Myrtle in time for filming. Nick was accompanied by other ghosts. VJ was a most excellent Professor Binns, and we had Silverdoe and Irish as grey ladies. Later we were met up by other ghosts from HPDFW. I think this is the first con where I’ve seen lots of ghost cosplay.
While walking around as ghosts, some con goers called me the Bloody baron. I’ll take that. =) I figured the Nick costume could be used for either. Everyone recognized us as ghosts. Some people didn’t recognize me, so the Illusion held.
The half wig I made also worked. It was an experiment, but Iam very pleased. I could not wear a whole wig due to the fitted nature of the hat. I sewed the hat cover on to makeit taut. After Nick was done, threads were snipped so I could convert the hat over to Augusta’s Humongous Hat of Doom.
In short, Nick was a success.

We ran into Lita Skeeter! She vids con and does mini documentaries.
Here’s a pic with Chan Potter. I met her on facebook and Acendio was her first con. =)
