"Hey," Lexie replies easily, smiling, but not as broadly as she'd first meant to. She wouldn't claim to be some kind of expert on reading Meredith, but she can't help wondering all the same if something's wrong, or at least off. Then again, tensions are running high these days; she's pretty sure everyone is worn thin, at the end of their ropes, herself included. She hadn't trusted the idea of Rapture from the start - how could she, when the last thing that showed up was a space station that nearly killed them all? - and now she's pretty sure she was right not to. At least Mace is doing well. She can hold on to that. "What's up? I was just walking by, figured I'd stop in."

"I was hoping you were Sean," sighs Meredith. If it's a cruel thing to say, she doesn't notice or especially care; it isn't meant to be. She wants her fiancé, no one can fault her for that. "He's still down there last I heard. They aren't coming back up yet?" It's been a couple hours tops since last she checked, but a lot can change in even an hour.

"Oh, my god, he's - he's stuck down there?" Lexie asks, eyes widening in surprise. Most of the time, she forgot that Sean was IPD, that it only made sense that he would do that sort of thing; when it came to how he spent his time, drinking was usually the first thing that came to mind. That wasn't the point now, though - in fact, she felt a little bad for thinking it - and she rested a hand by Meredith's elbow, frowning. "No, as far as I know, they're still there, there's - there's nothing new."

"He's been down there for days," Meredith says, huffing out another sigh. She shakes her head and steps back, nodding indoors. "You don't have to just stand there." It's the best invitation she's inclined to make, however decent the terms between herself and Lexie are these days; there's just too much on her mind as she steps away, Doc hurrying to stay at her feet. Pushing her hair back out of her face, she's torn between venting and finding something, anything, to keep her from worrying. "Last I heard, he was fine, but it's not easy getting contact down there."
