Meredith was clear, when the idea of a party came up, that she's never done anything like this before. Thrown parties, yes, but the kind with loud music and copious amounts of drinking that mostly got way bigger than she intended them to and wound up with her waking up either on the couch surrounded by everyone else's trash or in bed with someone, generally a stranger. It's kind of been a while since she last threw a party. At least a couple years.
And this, this is a grown-up party, which is probably fitting since she's actually, fully and in a non-negotiable way an adult now, a semi-healed adult with a job and a dog and a fence around a house she shares with a man she wants to marry, so it's probably time to stop dancing on tables with a bottle of tequila. Probably.
Not that that's an excuse for her party to be lame. Mary Jane came over to help her decorate, since she'd actually pulled down a lot of the stuff that cropped up with the change in the weather, and Sookie helped her to make food, which is laid out on a table near the tree along with a variety of drinks, alcoholic and otherwise. She's taken care of the music herself (Sean's albums aren't allowed anywhere near this evening's soundtrack) and for a few minutes, as things get started, she thinks she might actually pull this off.
