All We Ever Do is Say Goodbye

As weird as it might be, Meredith's more comfortable with her sleep schedule when it's all over the place, mixing late starts with mornings she has to work or teach, nights at home versus nights in the clinic. Thursday is one of her mornings to sleep in, which works out when she spends the evening away. It's all over the place, but for her, there's a kind of balance to it. Somehow, being so scattered makes her feel more settled.

By now, she should know that never lasts. Still curled up in bed, just awake enough for waking up not to feel worth the effort, she shifts back against Sean. She doesn't want to move or talk, just lie here, warm and mostly content, but there's the sound of someone at the door to break the peace, which, in its own way, seems natural, too. Of course, she's in the middle of nowhere and she still can't have one decent morning, nevermind the many she's already put behind her. "Pretend we're not here," she mumbles, not yet opening her eyes.
