Blah.
Watching TV isn't to anyone's benefit. Playing video games isn't to anybody's benefit. They're just things we do for entertainment value, to take up our time. They're just hobbies, and that's all.
So...why does my writing have to be to my benefit? Sure, I've got ideas for original stuff, but a novel takes a long time to put together. I don't care if my fanfics can't be published. It's good practice, good exercise, and can't I just write things because it's something I enjoy, and it pacifies me? Even makes me a little bit happy? It's just a hobby, after all!
I don't care if someone thinks fanfic is stupid, but my material's not trash. Nothing I do is trash. It hurts me when someone says that what I do is garbage.
Especially when they won't even bother to read it to find out.
