Yep, that's right, it is, in fact, 7:40...

Dream:

I was at work.

For some reason, I was working late on Wednesday and helping to run the Heroclix tournament (which's the one we have on Wednesdays). Matt, the guy that used to come to the store to judge, was coming in to officially run it, but we knew it was going to be big, so I was planning to help keep the kids in line.

Lionel had some kind of meeting which's why I was covering for him. A little before the tournament started, Genevieve and Michael showed up to keep me company and hang at the store. They both set up laptops in one of the game rooms and started playing games and IMing each other. Matt asked me if I wanted to go run across the street for something for dinner, and for some reason I thought that'd be okay.

So I went across the street (it got dark very suddenly outside), picked up my food (which I hadn't ordered and didn't actually pay for; they told me the total, I just game them nothing), and ran back across the street. Now, while I should have known it'd make no sense that I left at 6:00, and it was not 9:05, that's what the clock said, so I locked up as I came back inside. Genevieve and Michael were still on their computers giggling and IMing each other all sillily, and the game rooms around them were a complete and utter mess. There were chip pieces everywhere, wrappers all over the floor, everyones bags sprawled all over the place, sometimes with their stuff falling out. It was horrific.

But there were no kids. Not one. Matt was gone, all the kids were gone. But all their stuff was still there.

Huh.

So I picked up all the wrappers, straightened out the tables, vaccumed the whole store, gathered all the kids' stuff together neatly and in seperate piles, and wiped every surface down. It felt like it took forever, or at least, the time it'd take for a regular cleaning, but when I looked at the clock, it said 9:15. So I told Genevieve and Michael I was almost ready to go. That didn't really change anything. In fact, they did nothing to acknowledge I'd said anything. I moved past them to close the window and outside, half the parking lot was covered with cars. Suddenly, as if someone had put on a sterio right then, I could hear them honking like crazy and people yelling kids names.

I closed the windows and went back to the desk, and stared out the window.

'Okay,' I'm thinking to myself, 'apparently, the kids didn't actually leave to go home with their parents 'cause every parent I've met is down there screaming for their kids to get their butts down there. But where are they? Their stuff's here, they were playing in the tournament. I was at Friendly's, so I know they're not there... Oh no! I'm responsible for losing every kid that was here...'

Then the phone rang.

"Hello? Bad Moo Games and Collectables, this is Danielle speaking."

"Hi, I'm Jordan's dad. Is my son up there? It's past nine and I'm sure you;d like to go home, too." He sounded like the nicest man in the world.

"Well, actually, no. None of the kids are here. I don't exactly know where they went, but we don't dictate when they leave so..."

"Oh dear. Well, when did they leave?"

"Oh... well, I'm not entirely sure. See I just ran right across the street to get something to eat. But there were a lot of adults here, it was only for a minute... They couldn't have left that long ago..."

"Well that's fine. I'm sure they'll turn up. Thanks."

And he hung up. Never stopped being nice.

So I head back towards the game room to ask Genevieve and Michael what had happened since they'd been there. Before I got there, Lionel rounded the corner. He'd forgotten something and come in to get it.

"How'd the store get so messy?"

"What? But, how did you know? I cleaned everything!"

"Oh, I know. What's wrong?"

So I explained about the kids. He laughed and said I should ask Genevieve and Michael. I got very irritated because that's what I'd been on my way to do in the first place.

So, I walked in and they'd finally put their computers away and seemed to be getting ready to leave.

"We'll meet you outside, okay Pet?" Michael said.

"Actually, I need to ask you something."

"Oh we just need to run and get gas, we'll be right back." Genevieve said... and then they were gone.

I ran to the window to try and catch them, but I couldn't see them, and all the cars were gone.

"Um, Lionel... what happened to everyone?"

"Oh, they'll pick up their stuff tomorrow. It's a good thing you did. I'll see you on Friday."

Gah!

What?

I put on my jacket, incredibly close to tears, heard the phone ring, and woke up right before I could answer it.
