I have been so busy lately!
Last week was mostly spent helping out Genevieve, preparing for Halloween, and working here. This weekend was craziness at it's peak.
Friday I brought Genevieve to her doctors appointment (after a nummy breakfast at one of my favourite diners) in Westfield... only her doctor "never goes to that office" (she would-a gone straight to the castle). No, of course she only ever goes to her office in Edison! Well duh! How could we not have guessed that when her address is in Westfield, we made the apointment on the Westfield phone number, and we were never told another office even existed! Really, it was our fault. So we rushed over there and got taken pretty quickly. The doctor was somewhat brisk, but very good. Gave Genevieve a prescription and sent us on our way.
We then went to Bad Moo so's I could pick up my check and a couple-a other things. We then spent a ridiculous and depressing amount of time at the bank (we're in quite a bit of a trouble spot financially right now... fun story for later!), and ended up getting back to my house much later then expected. So, rather then get Thai food we picked Michael up and headed out immediately to do our errands. First we returned my boots. My new, warm, beautiful, falling apart 'cause they're_apparently_crap_ boots. I miss them so much... the kept my feet warm, looked really good, and fit me perfectly. Le sigh. Anyway, we went from there to food quickly and then off to Dick's so Michael could pick something up. Then home by 9:30 to meet Christian.
Christian came over to go over the RSC stuff. Several hours and great progress later, it was alread into Saturday morning. I gave Genevieve a massage and went to sleep. For four whole hours. :D
Saturday morning I gave Michael a massage, the three of us spent a little of the morning hanging out, got ready and went out. We did a bunch of errands to prepare for the Halloween shows, had dinner, came home, spent like two hours doing my and Genevieve's hair for the preshow, practiced, packed, fixed up our costumes, and ran out the door with little time.
And then,
show number one. We practiced the preshow one time through before we let in. Figured out a couple-a timing issues ad then scrambled to get into costume and make-up. Genevieve and I figured out some realy cool make-up for her and were just barely ready in time. The show oversold by something like thirty people at least. The computers were down, and between the mass amount of people that showed up to buy tickets and the pre-sale tickets, we were more then packed. Some people ended up leaving, which sucked. And the standing room was full to the brim, which was slightly inconvenient, but cool to have such a large crowd. The preshow went off incredibly well. George and Genevieve did an excellent job, and Sarah and I, I think at least, were very good supporting roles. I was a lot of fun and the audience seemed to really like it. For the rest of the show, I was on lights with Michael. So I did all the lighting booth stuff, one of which was starting the film.
Sounds easy enough, right? I've pushed that button a bunch of times, no problem! Well, first of all, my irrational fear of stairs with holes between them became a reality on my way up. I apparently wasn't being careful enough and my leg slipped through on of them. Then, I got up to the booth, pushed the button, the projector went on and... off. Huh... Again. On! ... ... ... off again. Wait a second... the film... isn't... spooled... Oh crap! Ran downstairs to get a theatre person to spool the film for us and Larry stalled. Fun stuff.
Once they spooled and started the film though, everything ran pretty smoothly. I was in charge of making sure the standing room people were out of the way for scenes taht involved the actors using the aisles and top of the theatre. Also learned lights and how Michael gets certain effects and where. That was fun.
Show over, diner yummy, shower and sleep good. For like seven whole hours! Amazing! Unfortuately, sleeping that long got us up late considering the show started so much earlier. So we got up fairly swiftly and got ready, and headed towards Genevieve's. Did more errandy stuff for the show, came back, again did the packing, hair, choking down of food (which shouldhave been Thai except, now they close on Sundays!), and hustling thing and as we're about to leave George calls to tell me the theatres got out a half an hour earlier then expected (as in right before he called). Yay! More rushing! We got there in good time, set up, had even less time to get ready for the preshow, and yet again, it went off really well. Couple of oversights (like no cups or wine bottle for the table), but still, it was great. I played Magenta for that show opposite Christian's Riff. I had a really good time. I was exhausted by the end of it, but I think I did a pretty good performance. Smaller audience, significantly. Definately the smallest of the three shows.
Michael brought Genevieve, George, and I back to my house so he could get home and we promptly left to bring George home. Then, back to my house for shower and much too little sleep.
Then it was actually Halloween! Although I already felt like we'd had two. I dressed up in army clothes and dd my hair all dyke-y. I'd dressed up for Rocky the previous two nights, but the hair and being able actually wear the hat is what made the costume. I went to work and did... um... work. Afterwards I met Genevieve and Michael at my house with Thai food (we finally got the Thai food!), we ate, again scrambled to get ready, and left with more then enough time. Repeat said show with preparation for preshow and awesomeness of said preshow. I was Transie for that show, and Willow ended up not being able to be there. So I made sure to get everyone together and organized and I think we did a really good job. Large crowd again. Not quite the oversell that was Saturday, but close enough.
Home. Shower. Sleep. Six hours. Bah.
Yesterday was, unfortunately, not the day of rest, gaming, sex, and cuddlin' I was hoping for. Lil' hiccup in the morning followed pretty much by having to leave. Genevieve needed to get her tire fixed and needed to do so before she went back to work. So we picked up her car, put the spare on, and drove it to get the tire replaced. By the time we got back to my area, we pretty much had time for food and then they dropped me off. Uncomfortable day. Not what I was hoping for. But all's better now, and I hope for a better time this coming weekend. Although, the busy-ness of it is already starting to stack. I did get to hang out with Tara last night though and talk to her for quite a while. I miss her a lot sometimes. Which is weird, 'cause she lives with me. You'd think I'd get to hang out with her more then I actually do. Then I had chocolate, played Zelda, and went to sleep all comforted and drained.
And now I'm at work. I desperately need to catch up on sleep. And I don't know when. Tomorrow maybe. I'm going to Genevieve's in the evening, Friday I'm working and then going to Michael's so we can help him move on Saturday, and Sunday I'm working. Gah! So busy! But, hopefully I'll get some good sleep tonight. I called out of the show this week 'cause I think I'd be a Zombie on Sunday here if I didn't. And not the fun kind.
Anyway, must get back to work on the preliminary Christmas shopping planning I seem to have started today.
Man do I know how to ramble.
