A Note on Holiday's
Margaret had mentioned that many people think that Valentine’s Day is a silly holiday however I felt I should share my thoughts. It only became a silly holiday when those silly Protestants needed some holidays too besides Christmas and Easter so they borrowed the Catholic holidays like St. Patrick’s Day and St. Valentine’s Day. According to legend, Saint Valentine had nothing to do with romantic love. He was a priest who died as a single martyr. He supposedly became friends with his jailer’s blind daughter and gave her a note the morning of this execution. After he was executed she was healed and read the note which was signed “from your Valentine.” The whole story is a celebration of friendship in unlikely places. I can’t see anything silly about celebrating that. Stupid commercialism.
