im gonna pick out one sentence and go on about it:
"I agree going to a show and seeing herds of people dressed in tight pants, studded belts, and a black hoodies gets old, but would you complain when you go to a party and every preppy girl and guy is dressed in a name brand shirt and ripped jeans?"

the difference between that and the scene look, is that the scene look is done as a form of rebellion (for most). it is seen as a contest. who can wear the tightest jeans, who has the best hair, whos makeup is more dayglo, who can fit the most ambulances/bomb/BANGBANG on their page. to complain about preps is almost null and void. preps arent the majority now days, its scene kids. so if you take all the people who complained about jocks years ago, when there was actually a problem, and add them all up, its the same as the people who complain about scene kids. what bothers me most about them is the blind following. OH I HAVE TO GET A LIP RING or OH I HAVE TO GET PLUGS or OH I HAVE TO STRAIGHTEN MY HAIR mentality is disgusting to me. much like punk was exploited, so is the scene look. when i was in high school, it was abercrombie etc that was widely seen. now, i look at whats going on and its scene kids. yet for some reason, there is still complaints about jocks and stuff. when you are the majority, you cant complain. you dont have it that hard, quit playing victim (not directed towards you).

here is my message to you. do what makes you happy, HOWEVER do NOT complain when someone gets on your ass about it. because if its really just for you, it really doesnt matter because you are you. also, blame the rest of the asshole scene kids for making it hated.

good point
but when i post in a community and the only feedback i get is, ohh go back to myspace scenester, it's gets old (which is what motivated me to write this) i mean how can i not take an attack about who i am and not have the right to complain?

and i'm not really sure it's mainstream, at least it sure isn’t in my town. yes it's on mtv now in a washed out form, but most people here have never heard the word hardcore to descibe a form of music and assume i listen to good charlotte or marlen mason. i get called freak, goth, saten, you name it. i think that's true for a lot (not most but a lot) of alt looking kids, but since they have all these huge groups on myspace and stuff, people assume that's whats up in high school now days, but at least in my case i was about 1 of maybe 9 out of 2,500 kids in my school who listened to hardcore, indie, or emo.

maybe in YOUR school you are the only one, but trust me. all around the country its the same. it sucks you have to deal with that, but still its mainstream. my friend, who is fairly scene, is going to be on NEXT on MTV. yeah, next, the show with all the stupid bimbos on it. so that just goes to show you that MTV knows who their audience is.

if thats all you are getting out of the community, then why are you still in it? come on, you are a smart girl.
