Food for thought...
I'm pretty sure Ive posted about this before, but a conversation I had today in the Temple archives got me thinking about it again. We were discussing the task of compiling community histories. The archivist with whom I work noted that specifically in the field of Jewish community history, it is reaching the point that soon most of the people working in the field won't actually be Jewish. We were discussing then how this alters the way history is recorded and records are compiled. I couldn't help but think about myself and the work I do on South Asia. Will I ever be taken seriously?
