I survived USNCCM-X!

Hey, so this past weekend I went to my first-ever technical conference. Keynote speakers included the Dean of Engineering from MIT, some guy from the National Nuclear Security Agency, this dude from Texas who talked about hurricanes... and I forget some of the others. All-in-all it was very overwhelming and very fun, and the majority of what I heard just went completely over my head.

My talk was on Saturday. It went pretty well, except that my laptop decided to hibernate about halfway through and I had to borrow someone else's in order to finish (these things always seem to happen to me--anyone remember high school graduation when I was playing a solo and the wind blew my music off the stand?). But everyone said that I recovered well, so I guess that counts for something. And I guess it helps that there were only about maybe a dozen people there to see it.

Honestly, I was surprised by how cooperative and nice everyone was. I was expecting it to be this cut-throat, point out all the flaws to make yourself look better, whose thesis is bigger slugfest. I guess I let TV (and/or my experience in the Physics Department?) go to my head.
