You're welcome. I'm glad it was helpful even though I'd misread.

He would definitely get the feeling of the place being deserted. Most restaurants are closed. Some few of the more expensive places may do a seating or two for people who want someone else to do the cooking for them, but those are hard-ish to find. There might be the odd "dirty spoon" diner that's open. Chinese restaurants tend to be open, and that's usually where people who don't celebrate Thanksgiving (or Christmas) and are annoyed that everything is shut down will go.

I don't know about bars. That may depend on local ordinances. (I live in a state where liquor stores are required to close by 9pm and are not open on Sundays, so I'd be surprised if bars were open on Thanksgiving here. Other states may be different.)

Movie theaters are the other thing that tends to be open, at least late in the day, as some families have the tradition of going out to see a movie (usually Christmas themed) after dinner on Thanksgiving.

So, Chinese restaurants and movie theaters open, bars maybe but I dunno, and that's about it. Otherwise: ghost town.

Great, thank you very much! Previous chapters to this story will be edited to make it more detailed and, hopefully, more real. :)
