I still feel disgusting from last night's lobotomized Oscar proceedings when that flaming pile of crap, "Crash" won best picture. However, my feelings of nausea have been somewhat assuaged by the fact that just about every person in America who knows anything about quality filmmaking seems to be on my side. Browsing the internet, I found a very large contingent of people lambasting the Academy for such a ridiculous selection. It's very rare that my personal favorite film of the year even gets nominated, let alone wins, so I'm used to that. But I don't know that a film that I downright loathe has ever won, way to spoil a nice evening with a nightmarish ending. Anyway, this will only solidify Brokeback's cultural significance in the coming years which is good. Oh well, here are some good articles for your edification. [/End rant]
