"Oh wow, how'd you get a car?"
Eh, my folks drove it up from the Bahamas... "You're kidding."
"I must be. The Bahamas are islands. But the important thing is you ask me what kind of car I got."
"Uh...what kind of car you got?"
"I got a bitchin'... 8 YEAR OLD SKODA COMBI!!!!!"
That's right, I now am the proud owner of an 8 year old piece of shit Skoda Combi!!! I've had it for 2 days now, and I already have to take it to the garage to get it fixed!!! It's wonderful. A little slice of car problems back in the States. The car used to belong to Weronika's father who is a fucking menace (and that is being polite) and I'll frankly be surprised if it lasts a year. This fucking guy can't take care of anything, so I'm amazed it's running as good as it is to be honest. Now I have to figure out how to get a Polish license as I've been driving without one. Although I did hear that I can drive with my U.S. license for 6 months upon entering the country, which means I technically have 2 months left. But then again, the odds of me being pulled over here are pretty slim. Comparing to the maniacal way of driving here, I should be golden. And frankly the only time I'd be pulled over would be if I got into some sort of accident. I never drink and drive, so I'm ok, and I'm probably the slowest drive in all of Poland. I drive about 20 km over the speed limit, and I usually get honked at and passed by people like I was standing still. It's terrifying driving here to tell the truth. But it is nice to be able to go shopping without taking the bus, and backpacks and worrying about how much shit you buy because you know you've got to transport it all the way back. I flat-out refuse to drive in the center of the city though. Won't do it. Can't force me.
Weronika got me The Godfather box set for anniversary present. I only wanted it for parts 1 and 2. Part 3 can go suck a nut. And I still haven't gotten her anything, because I can't shake her for an evening so I can go shopping alone. Every time she's supposedly going to go out, she's ended up cancelling. And then I got sick, and didn't feel like shopping, so I'm going to have to excuse myself sometime later this week. I even kind of know what I want to get her, it's yet again just a matter of finding it relatively easily. Which means that it ain't gonna happen. It's virtually impossible to find anything easily in this god-forsaken country. It seems they truly try to make things as difficult as humanly possible. Or even worse. They'll have something one week, and then it'll be gone and never ever return. It's sooooo frustrating. But I think our life will be substantially better with a car. I also refuse to drive it to work. I will never fight through rush hour traffic in this city. Not to mention having to scour the area for a non-existing parking spot. It's easier to just take the bus. But not too much easier. We had people over last night, which was pretty nice. I made chicken coronation salad. Which is really nothing more than roasted chicken breasts, green onions, red grapes, mayo, curry, salt and pepper, but it's still quite good I think. Also had to baby-sit her parents' dog for almost a week. Which was nice for our dog, as he had someone to play with and try to fuck for 5 days. Which actually leads me back to her menace father. When he dropped her (the dog) off, first he tried to leave her at the reception desk at our work. Well, they wouldn't (no shit) take her, so he managed to get past the security and try to leave her with us at our office! I couldn't believe it. He's such a stupid motherfucker. I can't stand him. He mostly has the best of intentions, but it's literally like dealing with an adult who still has the mentality of a 7 year-old.
Maybe next week we're going to see Clerks 2. I have no idea if it's any good or not, but it's sooo rare that we get to see a movie at the cinema, it should be nice either way. It's always amazing the amount of typical shit movies that come here. They mainly only import the commercial blockbuster type films over here, so it's fairly rare to have something worse paying the gargantuan prices for. I'm trying to figure out if this is a happy post or a bitch post. I think a little of both. I'm also thinking about learning Dutch sometime soon. Fuck learning Polish. It's honestly not worth is as we're both planning on leaving this country eventually. Hopefully within the next 3 years maximum. I'm just waiting until I can apply for Polish citizenship. Then it's bye-bye Polska!!! Bye-bye fucked up Politics, that almost make the U.S. politics look normal and sane. This fucking country is run by people who truly want to go back to the stone age. They have the mentality of America in the 50s. They're isolationist, racist, sexist, and uber-Catholic. And they have the majority in the government. It's truly fightening sometimes. Oh well, I'm still excited for the November elections in the U.S. I filled out my absentee ballot a while ago, so hopefully it's bye-bye Republicans...but enough about politics.
I suppose I should get back to work, especially as I think I've been rambling like an idiot.
