This weekend I enjoyed some pre and post labor day thrifting. I was looking for some new-old clothes and also some accessories for my planned
Beaver Boys costume. Unfortunately, no cool clothes or sweet mesh tank tops in sight but I did find a shitload of awesome tapes. One in particular is amazing but I'll get to that in a second. I was able to pick up
Cause & Effects' enjoyable self-titled Depeche Mode rip-off, Gary Numans'
Telekon and
Black Box's Dreamland. All three tapes are deliciously warped. The bass is reallllllllllllll lowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww and static covers the music like a blanket. Gives the music a life that CD's and mp3's don't honor.
Anyway, the only reason I'm posting is because I was blown away by one tape in particular. I picked up Poolside by Nu Shooz and I can't take it out of my cassette player. It's like mindblowing how awesome it is. I've listened to thier singles on YouTube for awhile now but listening to the entire album is just fucking incredible. I know this may seem like a joke because these videos/songs are so cheesy but to me it sounds like old New Edition or like what Chromeo is going for. Give it a try.
