Hello to all my LJ peeps!
I haven't been around in a while for a couple reasons:
(1) Working like a dog, first at Starbucks, which is 40 hours a week for the past year I won't get back, and now in my Masters programme, which is 80 hours a week for the next two years that I won't get back (but that I'm paying to give - does that make sense?)
(2) There hasn't been SPN to keep me seriously coming to the site, and since I prefer to be unspoiled, I have avoided all SPN-related sites [which, yes, includes this one] for the past few months.
However, now that S4 is up, running, kicking asses and taking names, I will be 100% back into it.
So I've been reading a few things here and there and the general consensus for the season 4 opener is: wickedly awesome good! And I must concur (I love that word :D). This premiere blew away season 3's with a few SAMs and possibly a nuke ... and yes, the pun was totally intended.
So because everyone has been super chatty already this week, I'm just going to type the things I liked and didn't like.
LIKED
- Okay this should count as LOVED because let's face it: HUGGING!!!!!!!!! Dean and Bobby, then Dean and Sam. Gah, I honestly started bawling (the second time I watched it when no one was around).
- The funny moments: Holy water in the face; Sam 'forgetting' chicky's name (I'm of the mind that she was Ruby there); Sam's attempt to "douche-up" the Metallicar = epic!fail.
- Dean smacking that demon chick (twice!) - she annoyed me, scared or not.
- The psychic. Unfortunately she got her eyes burned out, but she's awesome. I hope she comes back.
- Dean getting his necklace back - tears are coming again
- Castiel aka Cranky McHolypants (it's the name, get on the wagon! Thank you crumpeteer!)
First: he's holy hell hot!
Second: it's about time there was some good in this show. It can't always be about the boys having their asses handed to them by evil.
And third: I was so stoked and slightly proud of myself that I thought angel before he even came into the barn. When psychic chick's eyes were burned out, and then the same happened to the demons, I thought, "The only being in mythology that could do that was a being made of pure light, usually a god." Since the only gods we've been introduced to until now have been evil, trickster pagan gods (a stereotype I'm not happy with btw), I thought, "Must be an angel." And when Castiel put his fingers on Bobby's forehead and made him go to sleep, well that just smacked all over of The Prophecy (excellent cult film, check it out) and I knew.
DISLIKED
- This new Ruby chick. I'm with most people on this: who the hell and what the hell?! She had better step up because if smart-mouthed "I wish I was there to see the flesh melt off your bones... to hear you scream" Ruby has gone soft - NOT COOL!
- Okay, the whole thing with Ruby/Lilith annoys me. I'm hoping they clear up what happened in the next few episodes, because I don't want Lilith to disappear for most of the season and pop up out of the blue. Maybe Castiel can shed some light on that.
- Sam not S&Bing Dean's body. Okay, don't get me wrong. If he had done that, the series would be over and what would any of our Thursdays/Fridays (USA/Canada, people!) be like? But he knows better. I guess I just thought the reason ("he'll need his body when I bring him back ... [even though it's shredded and starting to rot!]") was a bit weak. Take it as you will.
