I have a word of the day calendar I keep on my desk at school. Here's last Wednesday's word of the day:

hobbit - n - a member of a fictitious peaceful and genial race of small humanlike creatures that dwell underground.

And the sentence using the word? "As lush as any hobbit's realm, the forest engulfs Sams River Loop Trail, a route traveled more by elk than by humans." (John g. Mitchell, National Geographic, July 2004)

What I want to know is how would you use the word "hobbit" in everyday conversation? Although I have used it before to describe how a particular outfit made me look when I tried it on...
