So Lady, Jet, Zuko and I were having a Serious Discussion on various things. At some point, I mentioned that if I could ask Toriyama anything, it would be what 17 and 18's original names were. Jet was like, "PROBABLY SOMETHING TERRIBLE." And then Lady got creative.

So their unofficial names are now Maxi and Pad. THANK YOU, LADY.
