"Sterling GFM - TNR Trapper Needs Rescuing
If you are involved in the world of cat rescue, you’ve likely heard of Sterling “TrapKing” Davis. His signature TrapKing RV can be spotted in neighborhoods all over the U.S. teaching TNR and advocating for felines. I’ve been present with people who have simply seen his RV at an event and burst into excitement that he’s there. And Sterling is a firm believer and creator of #SAMETEAM. No matter who you are, where you come from, or your level of experience with all things cats, Sterling will welcome you with open arms and bend over backwards to make you feel welcome and part of the team.
Sterling has been one of my best friends since we met at KittyCon in 2018 and honestly, one of the best people I’ve ever known. But now he needs our help and he reluctantly let me write this up (because he is too humble to ever accept this much praise without becoming overwhelmed).
Sterling was based in Asheville, NC. And while he was visiting family in Atlanta during Hurricane Helene, his living situation in NC is no longer viable. His friends in Asheville at Black Cat Magic have let him park there and hook up his RV for the time being. But this is a temporary situation. Fortunately, his soul-brother, Nathan the Cat Lady, has been working with Sterling to get a mobile home near him out in California. They’ve raised a bit through fundraising but not enough to get Sterling out to Cali to start rebuilding his life.
Even more devastating, is that while he had wonderful people helping him in NC, unfortunately they are also now in a tough spot. Which now affects Sterling because his RV was originally purchased with the help of another person and sadly, they have decided the RV needs to be repossessed due to their personal credit issues.
Now, while he needs to be focused on moving forward with his new life, he now has to try to save his RV. If he cannot raise the funds to “purchase it from them”, he will have to give it over. He will be out of a temporary home as well as everything he has worked for to help communities around the country. It is literally his home on wheels.
If he does not raise the money for the RV, he (devastatingly to me) has come to terms with moving on and continuing to do everything he can for the feline community, starting fresh wherever he must. But this is heartbreaking to me that he even has to consider this. It is a loss for not only his beloved brand, but a loss for all the cats that count on his unfiltered and unconditional love.
So now, for my 45th birthday (WHAT?!?! Oct 22nd), all I ask for is that you consider donating to help save this rescuer. If we can raise the large amount to cover the RV (42k), we’d all be blown away. But if we can even just get enough to get him out to California to start rebuilding his life, that would make all the difference. If you can’t help monetarily, that’s ok, share and send positive vibes! Literally every supportive word, thought and prayer, Sterling will take to heart. Knowing that he is not alone and the community that he longs to help, is here for him in any way possible, is what will help keep him motivated and reminded that we all love him no matter where he is living or what he is driving.
