I moaned. I wanted Genjyo so badly it hurt. But, I questioned the truth of his desire. With a terrible effort of will, I forced my fingers to let go of his shirt. With my hands flat on his chest, I pushed him away - breaking the kiss I had been longing for so long that my soul ached. I shook my head . "No. This is wrong," I whimpered. His fingers still clung to my hair, but my shove was enough to make him step back toward the elevator's closed door. I reached out with one hand and pushed the ground floor button with shaking fingers. The elevator rumbled as it dropped down.
"Why?" Genjyo asked hoarsely - letting go of my hair. He had an expression of hurt and frustration.
"You're just competing with Gojyo for a woman neither of you wants," I said. "You told me not to walk out on you. When will you walk out on me?"
"I won't." He said.
"You will." I insisted.
"How can you be so sure," he asked.
"I just am," I muttered. Tears clouded my eyes - forcing me to blink. "You will never love me. Nobody will."
"Who hurt you to make you feel this way," Genjyo asked gruffly.
I crossed my arms across my belly with my hands clutching my elbows and stared at the floor. Grimmy sat beside me. He had his head cocked with his ears canted. His mismatched eyes seem to be clouded with worry. A single tear slid down my cheek. I turned and leaned against the elevator wall. "Everyone," I murmured.
Genjyo closed his eyes and sighed. "I understand." He brushed the tear from my cheek and grasped my arms. Genjyo pulled me away from the elevator wall and crushed me to his chest. I lay my cheek on his bare chest and let him hold me until the elevator reached the ground floor.
