Scanlation decision. I need everyone's opinion!
I seriously need feedback from everyone about the scanlation project. I'm trying to promote the scanlation project by joining communities in LJ, and I recently joined Myspace (www.myspace.com/drneko) and joined groups. I'm trying to get everyone to know that the scanlation project exist since I find a lot of people are still unaware of its existence.
I've been wondering if I should change things a bit. Currently, I posted on the scans with the front page stating "Don't redistribute except the first chapter". Should I change it to "destribute as-is freely"? Reason why I've been holding out is that I've been planning to put some ads (Google adsense and a small in-page banner; I refuse to have any pop-up or pop unders) so I can at least generate some funds to support the site (I've been paying everything out of my pocket for years). Would allowing others to post the scanlation on their web site hurt my site, or would it help? Would people still visit (or even have a reason to visit) my site if others have it on their site? I would like to hear what everyone thinks. I'm open to suggestions. Thank you.
