Why is it that doctors can order non-critical exams read stat (they might be super-painful but people don't usually die from a kidney stone) but think there's nothing wrong with telling us the patient can go home before a radiologist looks at an exam that, if positive, means the patient can die at any minute? Lawsuit waiting to happen, methinks.
Inexplicable doctor logic is inexplicable.
PS: No, we did not let the patient go home but the ordering doctor was pissed. Of course, if the exam had been positive, the doctor would have been angry that we did what she said too. No win situation, I'm afraid.
